🏛️ Day 1 — Tirana – Berat – Belsh – Tirana Our tour leader picks you up at your hotel to begin the day tour of Berat — the "City of 1001 Windows" and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through the narrow stone streets offers a fantastic view of the medieval old houses with windows that seem to stand on top of each other. The city's life began in the 6th–5th century BC as an Illyrian settlement and in the 3rd century BC became a castle-city known as Antipatrea. Uniquely, residents still live inside the castle walls today.

Berat has it all — a beautiful medieval castle, ancient churches and mosques, a lively lower town of grand old houses on steep hillsides, an old stone bridge, great museums, and communist-era remains. Berat is also the birthplace of Onufri — the famous Balkan painter known for his distinctive reddish colour still difficult to imitate. We visit the Gorica Neighbourhood for more sightseeing.

Returning to Tirana we drive past Belsh Lake — a picturesque stop offering emerald waters and a beautiful promenade. Free time to walk by the lake or stop at one of the coffee shops. After this amazing experience through history, culture, and beautiful views we drive back to Tirana.
