Full description
A walking tour of Gjirokastra begins at the Old Bazaar, a bustling marketplace with shops and stalls selling everything from traditional Albanian clothing to handmade crafts, alongside restaurants and cafés serving local cuisine. From there, the walk continues to Gjirokastra Castle, built in the 13th century and now home to a museum, offering stunning views over the city and surrounding mountains.
The tour closes with a stroll through Gjirokastra's cobblestone streets, lined with beautiful Ottoman-era buildings, churches, and mosques. Led by a local, certified guide who grew up in the city, this is an intimate, story-driven introduction to one of Albania's most fascinating UNESCO towns. Castle entry fee (4 euro) is paid separately on site.
