Full description
Inside a welcoming village home in Lazarat, just outside Gjirokastër, Lori and her mother guide you through one of the region's most treasured and least-known traditions — the art of wool processing. From raw fleece to finished carpet, you explore every stage of the craft: washing, carding, spinning, and weaving, learning the patterns and techniques that have defined the homes and handwork of southern Albanian women for generations.
This experience, supported by Planeterra and IUCN as part of community tourism development in the Vjosa valley, culminates with a traditional homemade lunch or dinner prepared by your hosts — a generous spread of local, seasonal dishes that reflect the flavors and rhythms of this mountain village. Suitable for small groups. Max 12 people. Transport not included; location approximately 15 minutes from Gjirokastër city center.
